To get the best price and satisfaction, please do the following:

1. Check your car insurance and credit cards first to avoid buying unnecessary insurance from the car rental companies.
2. Reserve in advance.

3. Investigate "specials".
It may offer less than shown.
4. Check for discounts.
(AAA, AARP, credit cards, calling cards, unions, airline tickets, corporate rate of your employer, etc.)
The discount can range from 10 to 40 percent.

5. Not all companies are everywhere.
No one company is always the price leader.
6. Try as many car rentals as possible.

7. Be exact as to how long you will need the car.
(Any changes will cost.)
8. Request the exact car and price you want and have it listed in your reservation.

9. Know the cancellation rules.

(Who can drive the car, etc.)

LDW (Loss Damage Waiver)
LIS (Personal Liability Insurance)
PAI & PEC (Personal Accident Insurance)
You may not need such extra insurance coverage.
Car Rental companies will try every trick, even scare you into buying something you most likely do not need.
12. "Fuel Purchase Option" is usually a bad deal.
Don't take it.
It may be automatically added to your bill unless you request it be taken off.
Just be sure to check the gas gauge to see that it is full when you pick the car up.
Do this when you inspect the car for damages before you drive the car away.
Be sure to fill it up before returning the car.

13. Once you get the bill after returning the car, review it to see what you have been charged.
(You may be charged a higher rate, pay for extras like unnecessary insurance, etc.)
Resolve it on the spot.
May be impossible after you walk out the door.
